  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Car starts then cuts out when cold

For those of you that don't remember.

Car was inning drove 100 miles. Went to start and dead.
Injectors changed along with previously changed dizzy cap and arm and coil. It then fired but only ran iPod holding throttle was on 2 cylinders.

Bought new spark plugs and fired straight away, and cut out as cold again. Soon as warm is idles perfect and drives

    Ideas?

It may be stupid for me to say this but i'm just trying to brainstorm ideas .... but with it being a turbo engine, would it hurt if you unplugged MAF sensor and tried starting it up when cold?

Could the tb be your problem if the ecu has been mapped useing a standered one

Can't think of it being the mapping imho as its perfect when warm.

I'm not sure where you are up to with this - so you may have covered this already - but if it's fine once warm then I'd take a look into the cold starting system. The snag is there's so much on yours that is non-standard I'm not sure how that is set up on it.

Have you tried Easy Start sprayed into the inlet when it won't fire? At least that would give you some idea if it's fuel/mix related.

It fires every time just cut out..

Held throttle until warm and now it's idling by itself and drivea now

It's now 11.3 (wideband)after putting fpr to 3.5 Barr with vac on...

Put 3.5 Barr with vac off and fpr is now 12 on wideband

Just remembered something with my Evo, could help could not.
When I got the external dump valve fitted, the guy mentioned it messes with the idle occasionally. My car runs spot and, and never cuts out, but every now and then it will drop really low on revs and almost stall. There's possibly no connection at all to your fault but I know you have an aftermarket dumpvalve so it's worth mentioning.

On LET's they have issues idling if it's a single piston dv. The one mark has is twin piston, which basically means it's easier for the small vacuum reference to keep the dv closed.

Assuming it is a twin one..

Is there any way of swapping it out just to check?

It doesn't cause the symptoms mark has if its a single one though. Not LET's at least. It just hunts on a high idle. Starts fine.

Mark, Dave stupid question but does the engine use the electric type auto choke? If so or similar could that be at fault and did you say before you unplugged the cts?
