  • Springs and MoT

Ok I have a corsa b 1.0 x ref, and it has 2 front broke springs and it's due it's MOT and I'm skint, if I cut the broken bit flat and heat them up so they sit flatter on the strut and paint them black do you think it will pass an MOT, they are the front springs btw and they have only broke like 1/4 of a coil off each bottom coil

afraid not. almost guarantee it will fail unless steve wonder does the mot. replacements arent expensive anyway. less that 40 quid for the pair.

Mine failed on that many years ago. Less hassle to just get it done TBH.

Only thing is I'm gonna be putting lowering springs on after insurance has come and inspected the car, unless I get it insured with no MOT then put them on for the mOT

Out of interest, why are the insurers inspecting your car?

why would you be putting them on after inspection? surely you would want the insurer to see that they've been fitted correctly?

As you're new I'm not going to be to harsh, however you have joined our forum to request help on commiting insurance fraud. Insurance fraud which will mean that in the event of an accident you will not be insured.

Keep it standard, it will keep your insurance bill lower and make the car nicer to drive.

Cutting springs isn't a good idea as if they dislocate from the strut on the motorway the end of the spring can slice the inner sidewall out of your tyre. At motorway speeds that can be lethal.
