  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] 1.4 8v to 1.4 16v swap

    Hey guys
Posted this on the other corsa site, but dont think its going to get answered...

I have recently gotten my hands on a 1.4l 16v corsa b motor (comes out a 5 door auto), Im going to be dropping it into my regular 1.4 8v corsa b soon

What should i expect problem wise?

Im already running aftermarket management, So thats not to much of an issue. However things im worried about are

Will the rev counter and speedo work?
    Will my exhaust branches fit?
Is there a difference in the splines to the gearbox?
And lastly, will i really notice a power difference? Figure wise its 15kw stronger way more than 10% increase

Wouldn't say its worth it, why are you running different management?

I wouldn't say it would be worth it either if ya do an engine change i would go for a larger engine than the same except the other has 8 valves extra not really worth the work ya gonna put in to it unfortunately sorry if it offends ya buddy just what i think

i dont mind the work, I do alot of work on toyota's, changing motors on them.

Ive seen the difference you get out of a 8v 1600 to 16v conversion.

Im running different management because i added nos, so i am able to add extra fuel, retard timing etc as i need.

Why not just put bigger engine in to start with? Nos on a road car :/

currently with the cam in im only getting about 5 extra kw,
so looking at 55 with management etc,

stock the 16v is listed as 60kw,add in a decent dyno and im looking at 3-4kw more?
The reason for not wanting a bigger motor, i have to change my insurance then, rates go up etc.

The nos is only for our local drag events, once a month they let us play on a real drag strip

You have to change your insurance anyway, as you're putting a bigger engine in.... Then you have to tell insurance you have NOS, which is probably going
To end up costing more anyway

It's classed as an overtaking agent or something...I remember watching 5th gear do a test...wasn't as impressive as NOS in the "oh-so-accurate" Fast and Furious

nos bottle is only in at events.
Over here in South africa they dont cover you if you are running nos.

They also arent to bothered by the number of valves, only displacement it seems.

It helps a hell of a lot, but its no where near what FNF shows.
