  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Opel Combo 1.7D of 1997 adding turbo

Hey all i have an opel Combo 1.7D for my work. It is modification to a refrigerator.
I bought it 2 months ago.

I have noticed almost from day 1 that has not the power it should have. I know that having it a refrigerator it takes up much of the power(like having air conditioned), plus the cargo that is more or less at 400 Kiloes.

So i got the idea to put on it a turbo loader.

Has anyone else done something similar before?
Is it a good move to do so?
Any idea how much that will cost and what i should look for to buy?

PS. I have found an turbo engine at a good prize i think with this S/N on it
X17dtl14290252. I contacted Opel but they dont know anything about it. From what i can understand its an 1.7D engine, i saw the turbo on it but it will fit my car?

Sorry for the bombard of the questions, but i need a good start up advice to think on it as better as i can, as it is for work, and in Greece atm we cant afford any financial mistakes...

All this is a go to do, cause car will work better, as it will have more power on it, plus i will save fuel as it will not hurt to work so much.

    Thank you all.

Your engine will be an Isuzu. You need an Isuzu 1.7TD engine, you can't just swap parts over.
The engine will fit, but it's not a straight swap. The turbo has to be modified slightly, custom downpipe and custom gearbox mount if i remember. You will need the driveshafts from the TD car as well

can you please explaining it like I am a 5y.o. child, to give me steps how to do so?
F.e. You need this and this and this. Step 1 u put out the motor of your combo, put out this and this, then connect this there and this there. U need buy those things as well, and tune like that, and so on.

I am not the best in mechanics so i need as much a simpler guide to be able see and instruct the mechanic that will do it, to make sure no bad things will happen.

      Ty in advance.

Engine conversions aren't for amatures. Problems might come up that aren't in any guides. You need mechanical skills and a bit of initiative.

I've never done the conversion myself, but there are a lot of guides online if you check using google you could follow. I read through them before, but it was a bit too much work for me to take on myself for all the gains i'd have got

As i said above i need a guide so to be able "watch" my mechanic doing it, but doing it in a safe way i ll know about.

I never said i ll do it but i want to know how is it done.

          Thats all i ask.
