  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Oil/handbrake issue

Recently my oil light has started to stay on a few seconds longer then it should after start up, does this mean anything?

I replaced the oil pressure switch 2 weeks ago along with the sump gasket as it was leaking. Its still leaking a lot of oil and have no idea what I can do now? Torqued all bolts up etc. I was wondering if this is related to the light issue but I always keep the levels topped up.

Also when hard cornering the hand break light comes on?

Any advice would be great thanks

Hand brake light is low brake fluid. As you corner the level moves around causing the sensor to register low. Brake fluid will drop a little as the pads wear down.

It is more than likely as mentioned but not 100% the fault as mine is currently doing it and fluid level is bang on I suspect wireing to level sensor on mine

When you replaced the sump gasket, were the two mating surfaces completely cleaned and dirt-free?

They sure were mate, couldn't be any cleaner :/ wondering whether to get some gasket sealant and cover the outside?

Bit worried about that oil light as well

Did you use gasket sealant when you replaced the sump gasket?

More is not the answer, quite the opposite. I prefer not to use anything, but if you have to then use the least smear of it possible. Too much can cause excess sealant to get squeezed out of the joint and into the sump. It then solidifies and gets into an oil feed. If you used a fair amount last time that may be why the oil light is taking longer to go out.

Or the oil light may simply be due to the new switch.
