  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Valve stem seals gone

Just removed my upper inlet manifold to check out a suspect valve seal leak and unsurprisingly the throttle body is covered in oil.

Can anyone recommend a good oil additive to stop or minimise the leak until I can get the seals replaced

    Thanks

Oil treatment/stop smoke usually helps for a bit

Are you quite sure that the oil isn't coming from the cam box breather?

      Regards.

Was thinking it could be PVC pipe, going to check for blocked pipes tomorrow although the bottom pipe is a t**t to get to.

Smoke is coming from exhaust on start up and after sitting at lights though so oil in tb is probably from seals and PVC

if you have got oil in the throttle body then it going to be oil breather,

if your value stem oil seals have gone you normal get blue smoke out the exhaust when you have be idling hen go to pull away

and when you have ring failer you have smoke all the time

so check and clean all oil breathers/pipes

          what engine is it?

Not worth it. Anything you add will affect all the seals in the engine so that's to be avoided. Just get the valve seals done as soon as convenient.

Going to disconnect breather hose and use a catch tank

Should I disconnect both and run to a catch tank or just the smaller of the two (the ones connected to the bottom of the cam cover on the right)

              Engine is x14xe

                  Yup, sorted it now

Run the smaller of the two into a catch tank (coke bottle)

                  Cars running much smoother
