  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Fire problems

Good day. Hope someone can please help. My corsa's spark plugs keep going. I replaced fuel relay box, cold start unit and put in new spark plug cables. Spark plugs only last 2-3 days then shot. When take out they are very black. Can please give me some advice. Will appreciate it very much. Thanx.

What engine? I'm guessing one of the old 8v units if it used plug leads.

When you say they keep going - what does that mean? If they are just going sooty black then they will clean up and are usable again.

Dry sooty black means the fuel mix is too rich - usually a blocked air filter or the coolant temperature sensor has failed which keeps the mix rich.

Wet oily black means the engine is burning oil - obviously a more serious mechanical problem. Worns bores or rings, or possibly valve stem oil seals.

I suspect the problem may not be with the plugs themselves. Going black and failing is a symptom of another issue. Plugs can tell you a lot about how an engine is working.

I mean spark plugs only last 2-3 days then car start to shake like there is a dead spark plug.

If they are fouling then there is a reason. Are they dry sooty black or oiled?

Best to start a new thread, and tell us when it was last fully serviced. New plugs, filters etc. Otherwise it could just be in need of a service.
