  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Flashing "S" of doom

Hi my corsa auto has the flashing "S", and the gearbox does not change up from 3rd also have no kickdown.
I bought a 2nd box, but it does the same as the old one. Can anyone help please as cannot afford silly dealer prices being a senior citizen.
    Many thanks,
    Len

    Hi Len

Wrong section I'm afraid but someone may move this thread for you.

Which engine do you have? Some of them have an issue when the gearbox ECU isn't getting the signal it expects from the engine - depends how the engine's rpm is monitored so we need to know which engine and ignition system.

Check when the fluid was last changed. Check the fuse for the transmission ECU (iirc fuse 18 - shared with the 12v power socket (ciggy lighter) which can blow quite easily)

Have a gander at this re. the selector switch - a common cause of the flashing S - Page not found – Karl's Parental Ponderings

      Moved thread

Not sure if it's relevant, but you haven't listed how old the car is or what engine it has

Its a 1996, depending on size three varied quite a bit around then. Some still had Hall effect ignition systems whilst others had DIS modules and crank sensors. Most likely to be a dirty selector but worth checking fuses and fluid first in case it's something that simple.
