  • [Corsa B] Engine coolant temp sensor corsa B 1.2

Hi guys, on going problem with my car. Not going over the symptoms now but need to know where the sensor is for the Engine coolant temperature?!

I was told it wash to the right hand side of the dipstick but I have changed that already and it did not solve my issue. Someone also told me that there is another one near the radiator pipes.

Can someone please confirm where both sensors are and which one serves what particular purpose?

Needs help as soon as possible because the misses is getting sick of me spending all my time with my car!

Car spec: corsa 1.2 16v 1999. New lambda sensor. New crankshaft sensor. New relay sensor. New starter motor. And still the thing won't start when the engine is hot!!!!!

Rob has pointed where it is. Now in terms of what they all do - there are three temperature related 'sensors/switches' on yours.

The CTS - coolant temp. sensor (as 3 above) which tells the ECU when the engine is hot. The default mix setting is for a cold start, so if the CTS fails the engine fuel/air mix sticks on rich, hence the poor hot starting. (It will usually start if you floor the throttle with a dud CTS).

The coolant temperature sender - a single wire sender screwed into the EGR valve housing. This earths out as the engine temp. rises, driving the temp. gauge.

The thermoswitch - which is the one screwed into the side of the radiator. This controls the cooling fan and works by triggering the relay for the fan. It can be over-ridden by bridging the two wires with some 5amp cable - you can fit an over-ride switch on the dashboard if you want to manually control the fan.
