  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Corsa B X14XE with bad idle and whistle/knock noise (video)

    Hello,

My name is Eduard and i come from Holland.
    I got a Vauxhall Corsa B with x14xe engine.
Last week i replaced the head gasket, and set the timing belt.

When I start the car, and I left the car running.
I hear a whistle sound, and a strange sound during rev.
how can i solve the problem ??

    See the movies.

Sounds to me like the belt isn't fitted correctly - they can whistle if they are too tight, which can also pull the cam timing out.

Before I listened to the videos I thought by a whistle you were describing an air leak, but from the video clip that's more of a mechanically generated noise.

Are you sure it is the right belt? If it is the right belt double check the fitting and tension.

      Thnx for the reply,

I'm sure it is the right belt. the timing is tight.
I left the rollers like it is from the belt.
But when i rev the car up, its has a strange knock. That can you hear in part 1.

I will check it out one of these days. No hurry. ;p

Agreed, tight timing belt. Also explains that knock noise... not so much a ping or a knock, but possibly valve kissing?
