  • [Corsa D 2006-2014] Corsa D going to limp mode !

Hi guys not sure if anyone has come across this before but

    car in question
    Vauxhall Corsa D 2007/57
    1.3cdti engine - Z13DTH i believe
    stock ecu no tunes.

car runs fine as it is but if i push it hard around 3k revs or
60mph the car with spanner on it flickers up and car goes to limp mode

if i turn it off for a second and back on it goes out of limp till i push it a bit harder again the limp again

    any info greatly appreciated

    thanks

    dave

The obvious thing is to check for fault codes. You don't say which engine you have or the year of the car. That is important to know as the engine management system varies across different engines.

Tell what codes you get - I'd take a punt it might be the EGR sticking (though you don't always get an EGR code).

          HI GUYS

ok i did code read with the tech 2 after i picked the kids up from school

here is what showed up that meant something, both in the ECU
others were not relevant as they were lights and stuff.

          pic1

          pic2

and then did a scan after dropping the kids off home, on the way i tried to get it to do the same problem
this time it did it when i was at 40mph and revs about 3k
so im thinking its to do with the turbo as the next fault code depicts
          overboosting for some reason !!!
i do remapping and this vehicle is stock to what i believe.

          pic 3

let me know what you guys think

          thanks

I would also go for a vote on a Egr related problem or maybe a stuck turbo actuator?

I would start with cleaning the Egr and all the throttle body

It's that Fiat diesel jobbie, why the hell Vauxhall ever fitted them is anyone's guess. Nothing but trouble.

When they do this it is often caused by a sticky EGR.

but any one can help me with tuts on how to do the above,
if the egr keeps on giving me problems imm rewrite it out the ecu then no more problems lol
and then tune it up nice nice at the same time heheh

The best product I've found for cleaning EGRs is QuickSilver PowerTune, made for powerboat engines. I buy it from boat chandlers or you can get it on ebay. Johnson and Evinrude do similar products. Take the EGR off, clean it up, if it's really dirty soaking in petrol overnight can help. If that doesn't sort it either replace it or blank it.

Vauxhall more of less gave up on EGRs later on, newer petrol engines came with a blanking plate fitted instead of the EGR. You'll find blanking plates for that engine on ebay.

I don't have any photos of that engine so can't do a tutorial for it.

                          hi guys

                          it wasn't the egr.

it was in fact the stuck turbo actuator

only way to get at it was with it up on the ramps
i looked up behind the turbo and blasted the arm and connections with WD40

car now runs sweet as a nut

                          thanks for the pointers
