  • [Corsa C 2000-2006] Weird brake problem

Hi, I've had my Corsa C 1.4Sxi for a few months now. It has been stood idle for a few weeks while I've been in uni.

Took it out this weekend and the brakes sort of feel like they have a warped disc ('pulsating' through the brake pedal).

Changed the pads and discs - really reasonable from Euro Car Parts.

On pushing the brake pedal to take up the slack the brake pedal pulsed and the engine almost felt like it was trying to stall!!

It seems to do it when the pedal is depressed and held down - then settles and then does it again to a lesser extent when the pedal is released!

DOES THIS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY!!

    Any ideas?

Sounds like a servo problem to me. I've known a few of them have water get into the servo and cause corrosion, and the C is particularly prone to water getting into the system if the scuttle drains get blocked. You say the car has been idle for a while - which makes me think it's even more likely to be a servo issue.

Check the vacuum pipe as well, just to be on the safe side. The reason the engine is sounding like it's going to stall may be due to air leaking in via the servo vacuum.
