  • [Non Corsa] Quieting down a derv

Any good ways to make my engine a bit quieter? It's high mileage like but just want to calm it down a bit, it's due a oil change so any help would be great

Yes mate give it 50 - 100 miles to work it's way round but can help reduce noise, increase compression by helping the oil stay thicker at hotter temps, and can reduce smoke.

Fill it with sand. It will be loud at first but after that it will never make a sound.
Failing that turn your damn music up

Only real thing you can do is adjust/ replace your tappets

Try different brands of diesel. Some engines run better on certain brands. Better still, try premium diesel. (the stuff that costs more, not just ordinary diesel with a fancy name). This has a higher cetane rating (similar to octane)and extra additives. It costs more but no more than dosing with after market cleaners and boosters. Some people find a slight improvement in mpg as well. My 1.3cdti runs smoother and quieter on it. It may take a tankful or two to notice the full benefits.
