[Corsa B 1993-2000] 1.6 16v cuts out when slowing down

hi everyone new to the site just got myself a 1.6 16v sport s-reg 98 corsa havent had one of these since i passed my test over 10years ago but fancyed a little project to keep me busy


it has a vx inlet installed, lowered 60mm on coilovers drives and sounds perfect no problem but when I'm driving it's fine no loss of power or that but sometimes it will cut out when slowing down for traffic lights, or when you put the cluth in to freeroll the EML light is on and the speedo isnt working i know the speedo is down to the abs senser bracket i have one to fit after the first one i snapped the quiding pin trying to fit it but just wounded if the cutting out was down to the speedo not working or is this another job altogether any help will be much appreciated

Sounds like icv to me, give it a good clean and see how it goes

ok thanks will give that a go will the idle control valve be located in the same place with it having a vx inlet fitted would you say.

Should be, if it isn't it won't be too far away

If it only cuts out when hot then it could be the crank sensor. Needs to cool down before it will restart?

no it starts straight back up for example if i was coming to a red light slowing down as you gear down or free roll it drops to 0 revs and cuts out fires straight back up when u turn the key even when parked up i can run it from cold up untill the fan cums on and no problems its just when driving it as in slowing down the eml light sometimes goes out but then comes back on when slowing down to a stand still iv drove it 200miles with light on and it dint skip a beat down the motorway but as soon as i came up the slip road to a stand still bogged out and cut out fired straight back up run normal

Did you clean idle control valve as that description is perfect for a faulty/dirty icv

no not yet going to go and grab some carb cleaner in the morning and have a mess around through the day 2moz i will take some pics and let you know how i get on
