Hi all, can someone tell me the old magic and incantations I must have to use to get this damn ignition barrel back in the housing?
I've got key in at position one so it locates just short of full insertion(force of habit as full insertion hurts apparently lol). It just won't click in. This can't be that hard can it?
What year is it. Early ones have to be done on position 2. Also, check that the steering column lock isn't activated. Check that the ignition switch is lined up with the cylinder rod.
Right I've tried everything to no avail but I know the problem but not solution. Problem is the steering lo k me humanism won't stay pushed down to allow cylinder to be fully inserted. Any suggestions?
Never had experience with a corsa but on my zafira you had to reach inside the housing with a long screwdriver and push the mechanism down. After that the actual key ignition barrel just pushed in without any force at all.
If you tried to force it the small metal lip that you had to push down on to release the barrel broke off very easily.
Obviously I am talking about a different car from 4 years later but it might help. Here's a video about an astra. Same thing. Astra Key-Reader removal - YouTube
