[Non Corsa] Vectra CDTI power loss/misfire/skips a beat

I'm now having running issue with engine.

When accelerating, usually in high speeds 50-70only and higher revs 1800-2800 but certainly felt it at 2500 once today.

I get what feels like a second of power loss then it goes. It happened about twelve times in two hours motorway driving yesterday and was wondering what issue is.

It also seemed sluggish other day in York city centre but seems ok now .

Tested with MAP off. Revs won't go over 2000rpm so stuck it back on.

Town driving with EGR plugged in or not plugged in was fine. Got one skip/mis fire /half second power loss today at 2500rpm/50mph with EGR on. Didn't with it off on way home.

Needs more motorway testing .

Could pulling trumpet out cause this ? (Airbox)?

Also what are these pipes as they contain air and seem worse for wear.

Where it 'bends on' to the pipe can see it perishing but doesn't appear to be a hole right through from looking at it.

Further to earlier PMs - if it's better with the EGR disconnected I'd suspect that first.

If those vac pipes are perished then they want replacing, but it's impossible to tell from a photo. Sometimes they look shabby but they're fine, sometimes they look fine and they leak. Only way is to test them.

Yeah its hard to tell with eyes tbh. I will replace them anyway soon when I work out what I'm looking for.

Could those pipes cause lots of turbo noise?

It needs more of a run without EGR tbh.

It was fine with EGR on apart from one very short stutter earlier that happened once. Had none with it off and will leave it off for a few days and see if happens.

Problem is it's a intermittent issue so. Can't say for certain.

The good news is that intermittent problems nearly always get worse - which means you can find them in the end.

Looking at getting some new boost pipes in case it's these. Seeing as they are getting worn, best replace now.

I'm after some replacement vac pipes and tempted to remove the small filter from the solenoid down bottom right of bay where pipes go. Also I read that the pipe running along top of engine then down back is a waste of time (maybe a bacteria filter?) And could be better to just run the pipe from the solenoid at bottom right of bay to where the 're routed pipes that go over the top of engine end up which is right side of block not far from throttlebody.
Know much about this?

Just did Middlesbrough to Thirsk A19 run without EGR. 100%.

Run back with EGR it may have missed two heart beats in the 25miles home.

there's a slight chance it could be sudden wind you know all this lol.

I'm thinking of leaving EGR on and monitoring the issue and making a note how often . It does seem to be getting better tbh. Then blank and map it out at end of month and I can either wait to see if fixed or go right ahead and do the following.

-clean TB
-clean MAP
-remove or clean boost solenoid filter
-replace vacuum pipes
-'re route said pipes.

Bit more driving with EGR on, skipped a little under hard acc again. Never did it with EGR off.

Removing the below and 're routing without going to the vac box made no difference as I still had skip with it done.

Done away with it and now pipe goes direct from solenoid to the thing on side of engine, think it's vacuum pump.
