  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] x14xe cuts out if you push the accelerator

    Hi guys i'm having nothing but problems with this conversion lol. The engine is in and running however now its not running right. everytime i try to rev it, it trys to cut out unless i take my foot off the accelerator and it will idle normally again, however if i gradually open the throttle it will rev up normally. I read the codes with my opcom and its comming back map sensor. I've tried another working one but its still got the same problem and still shows up map sensor whenever i read the codes after they've been cleared. Would the fuel pump have anything to do with it? The car was originally a 1.2 8v and had a 2.0 8v put in by the previous owner and now it has a x14xe fitted which is a 16v. I've attached a few videos so you can see what the problem is:

    Ran my opcom again and it came back with the following codes even after clearing the codes:

    P0120 = TPS Voltage Low - Present
    P0105 = MAP Sensor Voltage Low - Present

      The problem with conversions is there are so many variables we can't see. In general MAPs are pretty reliable, if you've tried two then it's unlikely to be the MAP itself, have you checked the vacuum pipe from the throttle body to the MAP, any blockage or leakage in that will cause problems.

      Check the TPS is properly assembled on the throttle shaft. It's worth checking the voltages the TPS is putting out.

      The usual things re. checking all pipes and connections, and make sure the timing is OK.

      Sorry, not a lot of help, but with a conversion you can't take anything for granted.

            first. fit your alt belt. siemens ecus hate low batt voltage, running without an alt drops them to 8-9v. way too low.

            second, thats got a powerbox right? it may well have an air leak. spray wd40 at all joints and hoses with it running and listen for engine note changes.

            third, check the cranks sensor is tight and sat in the right place etc and that the crank pulley hasnt moved.

            finally, align the tps correctly and test its output resistances.

                Thanks for that mate, I'll check the joints today and see if anything is leaking. Also how do i align the TPS and test the output bud?

                Cheers

                    I'm using the stock injectors and fuel system however the fuel pump at the rear of car is an 8v one i believe as the car originally had a 1.2 8v in it as standard then the owner before be put in a 2.0 8v so i don't think the pump has been changed. I've heard a pump from a 8v car is different from one from a 16v in terms of fuel delivery. i'm breaking a 1.2 16v corsa and i'm wondering if its worth replacing the fuel pump with the one in that.

                      I've got a pump for an x14xe sitting in my garage I can post Monday. Worked fine before I took it off

                        Se - too many variables. If you're running the old 8v fuel pump get hold of that one above and install it.

                          As I said ages ago lol.

                          When I went from 8v to 16v I changed pump
