  • Best engine for keeping handling

As says, I'm looking to swap my 1.2 8v lump for a faster one and keep the handling. the c20xe engine sits too low sump wise, and is heavy.
The carvhas had months of fine tuning to the suspension and really sticks to the road, out corners the gfs mx5 lol

Although you can get slimline sumps etc I can't justify spending the money as it'll still be low and smash the floor.
I was thinking of the x20xev lump, but I'm not sure one the wiring side, or even if it is lighter/not as low. Would an f13 fit this block?
Other options are the 1.6 sport lump, or the c14se, but tbh i want bigger than a 1.4 ideally.

Use to love peoples faces when the got ate off the lights by a corsa! not fussed on power, just how long it takes to get there lol.

Thanks for your help in advance. I just don't want to go out swap it and loose the cars corner ability lol, want to make sure its thebcorrect lump before i pull my car apart, again.

I will upload pics later, but she looks nothing special atm.

There's also a c18xe. Found in early Astra GSis I think. Brilliant engine, about 130bhp standard.

IIRC that ones a lot harder to mount, but I'm just running from a vague memory right now. I think it was "djgritt" who put the 18xe1 into a corsa. A white corsa i think it was if you're looking for it.

It certainly was him. There was a how-to guide on AC.

As above, plus the x18xel engines do well for power gains off throttle bodies

c20xe, with correct weight springs and shocks will be fine handling wise. i know 3 guys who do track days with gaz coilovers and xe's, have no handling issues.its when theyre thrown in with gmaxx 60mm springs and stock shocks that they dont handle.
