  • [Corsa D 2006-2014] Ignition Issue

    Hi Guys

    I have a 2007 Corsa D 1.2 SXI

For the past few months i have been having some issues with ignition. After a nights rest or after a day at work i go to startup my car. Put in the key, turn it and the car 90% of the time keeps on cranking trying to startup. I have uploaded a video i took at random

Corsa D 1.2sxi 2007 ignition issue - YouTube (PUT VOLUME UP TO HEAR IT PLEASE)

In this instance after cranking very strangely it started up... but other times it keeps on cranking on and on an on. Then if i turn the key all the way back and try to startup again it starts up with no problem at all.. Any advise on what i shuld do or what it could be.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE

It's always a bit random to take a guess at possible causes when we can't check the car - but a couple of thoughts:

I assume the flashing light on the video is your seat belt warning - just to check

It's cranking over OK so it sounds like the battery is good.

My first thought is lack of fuel. When you first turn the key the fuel pump ought to run a priming shot, then cut out until the engine starts to crank, when the crankshaft sensor tells the fuel pump relay to start again. You can check for fuel pressure at the rail by pressing the valve under the plastic cap. (Petrol ought to spray out so be careful.) Try turning the key to ignition on (No.2 position) but don't crank - check for fuel pressure. Then crank it and check again for fuel pressure. There ought to be pressure on both checks.

If no pressure before or after cranking then check the fuel pump relay or fuel pump itself.

If pressure before cranking but not after it check the crankshaft sensor.

    Tell us what you find.
