  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Exhaust help

i'll be brief, me and my exhaust have decided to go our separate ways, its come clean off and now my car sounds like a literal tank, whilst i know this is illegal, and dangerous and LOUD!!!!!!! i am trying to rectify it quickly because my eardrums are bleeding, guna get a sportex 1.0 tube and back box for a nice rumble as its cheaper than the garage fitting a standard, but, mid section or no mid section? and what is the largest tip a standard grey abm bumper will accommodate? thinking just a modest 3" roled but the jap 4" appeals to my Subaru side.

    Thanks in advance

    Exhaust help

3" rolled is the commonly accepted choice these days and is what I'd recommend. Also I'd say no middle section. Because I like noise lol

      This.

Get a race tube and no center section, then a decent backbox, as above 3" rolled tip are a good choice

Done exactly same as above on previous set up.
        Cheap and sounds decent

I drove a 400bhp LET to my exhaust centre with JUST manifold on.

Now that makes your ears bleed haha

I had pretty much that exact system, sportex 3" rolled backbox, with "race tube" centre (no box) on my 1.6 corsa sport, sounded great for a corsa.

my sportex has arrived, now am i correct in thinking the cat runs from the manifold down and ends in the form of a rubber adjustable item of which i have no idea of the name? so when the exhaust and engine move separately it stops any damage occurring, then a pipe connecting it to the rest of the sportex provided gear? because im missing said pipe

Taking the cat off will be an instant mot failure, so you'll need to buy one and out it back to pass a legit mot.

I'd probably keep the cat on.

okidoke i have the cat its the left bit on this pic im missing, so the pipe on the right is destroying my hearing on a daily basis and the pipe on the left is what i require i dont fancy buying a whole cat for that one pipe

That looks like just a flexi-pipe, you can buy them in set diameters, but they'll need to be welded in I imagine.

That's no probs cheers for that, don't suppose you know the diameter of a 1.0? Guess I can just measure my sportex

None of those, sorry, that was misleading of me, the flexi is part of the cat in the downpipe... You'd have to buy a suitable diameter, aftermarket flexi pipe, and take it to an exhaust shop to have it welded in (or just take it to the exhaust shop and let them order the flexi to avoid confusion)

50 x 100 mm 2 x 4 " Inch Exhaust Flexible Flexi Flexy Flex Joint Pipe Repair | eBay -> This for example, is the type of thing you'd need, thats obvisouly not the right size, but you get the idea..

Or buy a complete new cat/downpipe/flexi altogether.
