  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] 96 b hit a curb. Speedo issues now. Read on sad days

Ok well as it says. I hit a curb. Decided it would be fun to go straight through a round about. Not the smatest thing but regardless gotta get it fixed. After replacing the wheels car does drive but of course alignment is off which it was before anyway after lowering. Main issue is the speedo doesn't work now. I haven't had a chance to take a serious look at it all since I've been working. When I replaced the wheel everything seemed sound. No broken cv boots or bent tie bars. Suspension seems to have made it through the ordeal pretty good. Front sway bar might be bent up a little bit on the right side of the car. Think this could be as simple as a fuse, or and axle issue. I drive it about 10 km to see how it did and it drove alright. Not driving it again till I get it sorted though. Any input would be nice

You need to establish where it takes the speedo reading from. It could be a sensor on the hub.

Which engine? - most of the smaller 1996 models took the speedo drive off the transmission. In which case it's probably a busted cable - hopefully. If the impact was severe you may have broken the drive in the gearbox.

It's a 1.4 16v engine runs fine. Drives fine other then the alignment just gets no speedo reading

Pretty sure they have the speedo sensor on the hub. Can you get a close up pic of both sides of the hub?

Does it have abs?? If so they often pick up the speed from the abs ring and sensor on the drivers front wheel.

well my car is left hand drive, so i'm assuming you mean on the right hub of the car. I can get a picture of it, didn't see to be any damage when i looked but i'm sure there is something hidden.

                  Should be on both hubs.

96 is pre facelift, very doubtfull it has abs. check the usual position of the sender on the back of the diff.
