Hi guys i'm rebuilding my engine and i'm about to change my timing belt. Slightly confused by the timing marks on the camshaft sprockets. Do i line them up with each other or do i line each sprocket up with the edge of the cylinder head?

Installation- Ensure cut-out on water pump aligned with mark on cylinder block Fig.18489.8.
- Ensure timing marks aligned Fig.18489.5 & Fig.18489.6.
- Fit timing belt in anti-clockwise direction, starting at crankshaft sprocket. Ensure belt is taut between sprockets.
- Slacken tensioner bolt Fig.18489.7.
- Turn tensioner anti-clockwise until pointer on RH stop Fig.18489.11. Use Allen key Fig.18489.9. Lightly tighten boltFig.18489.7.
- Turn crankshaft two turns clockwise. Ensure timing marks aligned Fig.18489.5 & Fig.18489.6.
- Slacken tensioner bolt Fig.18489.7.
- Turn tensioner clockwise until pointer aligned with:
- 'V' notch in bracket (new belt) Fig.18489.12.
- LH edge of 'V' notch (used belt) Fig.18489.13.
NOTE: Drive side of timing belt must remain taut during adjustment procedure. - Tighten tensioner bolt to 20 Nm Fig.18489.7.
- Remove crankshaft pulley bolt Fig.18489.3.
- Install components in reverse order of removal.NOTE: Observe direction of rotation marks on auxiliary drive belt.
- Fit new crankshaft pulley bolt Fig.18489.3

Removal
WARNING: Certain engines require modification to tensioner pulley/guide pulleys due to possible failure. Refer to dealer.- Mark direction of rotation on auxiliary drive belt with chalk.
- Turn auxiliary drive belt tensioner away from belt to release tension on belt. Use ring spanner.
- Insert 4 mm pin through hole in tensioner and into mounting bracket Fig.18489.1.
- Remove auxiliary drive belt.
- C16XE: Disconnect mass air flow (MAF) sensor multi-plug.
- Remove:
- Air intake trunking.
- Air filter and housing.
- C16XE: Mass air flow (MAF) sensor.
- Timing belt upper cover Fig.18489.2.
- Crankshaft pulley bolt Fig.18489.3.
- Crankshaft pulley.
- Timing belt lower cover Fig.18489.4.
- Temporarily fit crankshaft pulley bolt Fig.18489.3.
- Turn crankshaft clockwise until timing marks aligned Fig.18489.5 & Fig.18489.6.
- Ensure timing marks on camshaft sprockets aligned with upper edge of cylinder head.
- Slacken tensioner bolt Fig.18489.7. Turn tensioner clockwise until pointer on LH stop Fig.18489.10.
- Tighten tensioner bolt Fig.18489.7.
- Remove timing belt.
NOTE: Tensioner should be carefully examined for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
