[Non Corsa] Tyre advice

I need to get some new front tyres and i'm thinking of getting a slightly lower profile. Would I be ok changing them on just the front? I've recently had two new rears and only decided about the change of profile after buying them. Currenty have 205/55/16 fitted all round.

So long as they're the same across the axle it will be fine. Some cars have totally different sizes front and rear.

The only snag is that your spare won't match all four wheels, so if you need to use it drive with due caution.

As a real life proof. My MR2's rear wheels are an inch wider, they use 225/50's on the back, and 195/50's on the front.
