  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] possible maf fault?

What are the symptoms of a faulty MAF sensor on a 1.0 corsa b?

  • #2
Usually it runs badly, misfires, refuses to start - or it goes into limp mode and the EML (engine management light) comes on.

A simple test is to disconnect the MAF. The ECU will revert to a default (limp home) mode and the engine will run, just not at peak performance or economy. So if you disconnect the MAF and it runs better you have a good idea what the problem is.

Don't buy cheap aftermarket MAFs for them, they are more trouble than they are worth. It is one thing you need to buy the genuine article for.

The 1.0 12v engines are very intolerant of changes to the air intake. That often knackers the MAF on them.

      Quinton Hazell also make one.

I do not know yet what it is like.

Here it is for ca. EURO 55 from an Irish company

Quinton Hazell Air Flow Meter QM647 (1251909)

There is also free delivery to the UK for order over GBP 30 (which 55 Euro should exceed)

Depends on the part rather than the supplier. The Bosch ones are the usual oem ones. QH are good, but I've not had any experience of their MAFs. If you buy a QH one let us know how it goes.

Otherwise try Vauxhallworldparts or give Autovaux a ring.

              Buy cheap buy twice.

Lost count on how many times, somebody has bought a cheap
One, had it running for few weeks then had to buy another.

It's like speaking to a brick wall at times, many members on here have seen them fail, tell people they fail and they all don't listen

I have a QH maf in my car and it's been in it near a year, we sell QH stuff at garage as a cheaper alternative to genuine and they seem hit and miss but mostly there good IMO

                    Exactly, hit and miss.

I'm not saying all non genuine stuff is ****.
However if OP fits non genuine item, and still has same fault, we'll be instantly guessing whether it's down to the MAF again

Aw I'm not debating that just saying my experience with QH is mainly good, it's rare that there duds IMO, but with out a doubt buying any cheap non genuine parts your taking a risk

That's useful to know. I've used QH for years and their stuff is usually good. I've just never had any experience of their MAFs. If they're OK and cheaper then it sounds like a good idea.

I have a QH one here, which I bought.

However, I am thinking of returning it as I can obtain a second hand Bosch one with low miles on it

I am not affiliated with the online shop I mentioned earlier but they offer a good service in that you can return the items within a monzh and get your money back or return them up to a yar later and get a voucher - snag is that of course the parts and in particular sensors must be sealed in the bag/box.

Handy though if you buy the wrong part and can see that once you have it in your hand
