  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] What to do with the empty spare wheel well.

    Hi all.

Been a long time since i posted on here, but then its been a long time since i really did anything with the car.

Recently got some new alloys for the car and the side effect of that is that i no longer have a spare in the back, (i have got a spare it just doesn't fit in the well.)

Any suggestions on what i can do with the space, i've tried looking for a round toolbox that can go in it but to no avail. At the moment the carpet (Royal blue shagpile) is just sagging in the middle and looks pretty awful. I'm going to get a thin piece of MDF to sort out the sagging but was wondering if there was a way to make use of the space.

    Many thanks
    Pydeeny.

Just keep the old spare. Better than nothing if you have a puncture!
Or as Vegas says, battery relocation. But pointless unless you're going for better weight distribution or a neat engine bay.

Or cut middle piece out of the well and fit a sub in a false floor.

You're better off putting a 13/14" spare in there really.

I'm ****ed if I get a puncture lol

forgot to mention actually the car is sort of dakar/zombie invasion styled so the spare is actually on the roof along with some jerry cans and an ammo box.
How difficult is a battery re-location, bearing in mind i've only got a residents car park to work in at the moment, either that or side of the road that is.

You need a long piece of good quality cable to run through the car, from the battery in the back to the engine bay. Everything that went to the battery originally and the feed from the back go to a distribution box in the engine bay.
The battery needs to be in a proper box, bolted through the floor. You don't want it moving in a crash! The ground needs bolting to the body too.
Then you'll still need a false floor over the well, or the carpet will dip like you say.

And i've got a whole second fuse box on the battery to wire up if i do that, think i'll just stick with it where it is.

Just get a piece of wood for now i think until i figure out something else, already got some subs in the parcel shelf.

Perhaps just leave it as a secret compartment for all the moonshine runs i do!!

Pulls over, has beer, stuck for hours, good for traffic? haha, i was going down the sub route but if youre game for the zombie dakar thing id put some perpex over it and have a zombie survival kit in there, then a sticker over the perpex saying, break glass in case of apocolypse
