  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] FIRST THREAD!!! Speedo issues

ok i posted this on AC but i'm gonna throw it up on here as well

Basically it accurate till about 40 kph, then its off by about 5 until about 60kph the higher it goes the higher its off. At about 120kph its off by 10. I haven't touched the wheels its running um....165/70/13. I was thinking about just replacing the spedo but this might not solve the issue.

    any idea's?

Try looking into the gearbox speed sensor. Take it out and inspect it / replace with working one.

Most speedometers over-read by about 10%. So 10kph error at 120kph is within usual tolerances. Personally I wouldn't bother replacing the speedo. If you're worried just use a sat-nav to check speed.

(I am assuming it is over-reading rather than under-reading.)

This is correct. Alternatively, you could change the size of your wheels and put the appropriate* size tyre on, as tyres affect your speedometer reading.

*A tyre calculator can be found online, which will tell you which size is needed.

Well I'm not gonna spend money on it that's for sure. It really isn't that bad since I know it's off. Was kinda just wondering. Ill check out the sensor

If it's anything like the fuel gauges in corsas then I'm not surprised it's inaccurate
