  • [All Models] Top Rear / Nearside Brake/tail light not working

    Hi.

Can anyone help please? Confused. My daughter has an 07 Corsa 1.7 SXI 3 door. The bulb (tail/brake?) at the top of the rear / nearside light cluster has stopped working. All other bulbs on both sides work fine! I took out the cluster and checked the bulb.

The bulb is a single filament and it looked OK. I noticed the same bulb on the off side / rear cluster works fine. I see that it works as one of 3 rear lights (both sides) and becomes brighter when the brake is applied!

I spotted some white furring around the bulb connection so I cleaned the contacts, bulb and connectors from the plug and gave a squirt of WD40 for good measure. Unfortunately no luck. I replaced the bulb (24v 21W) but to no avail. Confused! Please help!!!! An earth / connection issue? Other bulbs all ok!! Fuse? !!!!

    HELP!! Many thanks in anticipation!

Are they not meant to be dual filaments? 5w/21w - all the listings I have for that model/year say they are dual filaments.

If someone has stuck a single filament in then it won't work as a brake light - in fact it shouldn't even fit into the holder.

Many thanks for the advice. I will check this out. I did wonder when I saw a single filament bulb. I will change it for a dual filament. This is the first time I have encountered this.

I bought the car for my wife in 2010 before passing it to our daughter in May 2013. Can't say I ever noticed it before. Tail lights (3 per side) always worked as did the brake lights on both sides. Must have been replaced before then? If I do this I presume it will work as all other bulbs work. If there was an earth problem then surely no other bulbs would work? o

Sorry, I meant it was a 1.4 SXI not 1.7!!!!

      Much appreciated.

I had this happen to me when a wire corroded and as far as I recall each side has separate fuse .. unsure about top rear though?

If 07 is new model Corsa could be different to what I'm on about.
