  • [Corsa C 2000-2006] Lights dip slightly

As the thread suggests. Want to know if faulty, I do think so.

My headlights slightly dip for only a short time(less than second) This happens on many occasions but it's only with the eternal darkness I've noticed it.

If I use try to close electric windows that are already closed , or open when already open they dip.

I've just noticed it also does this when I turn on fans to highest setting, click on heated rear window. But also when I put clutch just above bite point.

I wanted to post about the noise when starting off but it's gone after that drive but might be related if it's a belt or something I thought?

Any ideas what this could be? And what to check?

Last Corsa never did it. Thanks for clearing that up.

It was a manual window Corsa ... I'll ignore it for now and try focus on squeaky start offs and steering knock

Squeaky start offs might suggest a slipping aux drive belt - in which case the alternator won't be charging as efficiently, which is where the power to run headlights etc comes from. So that might be connected to the lights dimming. Try some talc on the aux belt and see what happens.

Will give it a go, I been ignoring it for a while but today it seems to be quite rare.

Do think its more to do with something near the wheel though but I will give this a go once once noise returns and see if it makes a difference

Oh and it happens 75% more often when turning at same time.

That's to be expected. Electric power steering puts more load on the system when you turn.

I went out and did some testing. I put some talc on the parts of the belt I could get at, don't know if this was enough but it didn't make any different I think with the dim of lights when clutch hits bite / when steering is used.
It may have changed the noise some, not sure.

I did this with all electrics on, but as above, bite point makes the light dim, so does steering. so does the enabling of all electrical stuff.

I don't have that squeal any more but there is a noise when I hit bite and get going. I got three videos to upload - if you do get time to look at them please do. I appreciate that they are not as useful as having a look, but tried to make it so you can hear what I can hear.

I've been investigating the squeak a little I've been getting. I get it more during corners or accelerating from low rev like been in 3rd at 12MPH. I believe this may be the aux belt the more I play around with it and since the lights dip etc it's another factor in why I should take a look anyway.

Should I replace the belt or get it tightened? It's causing me no major problems but would like to sort it anyway.

Or should I tighten and see. Then if not replace ? I'll obviously be getting my mate on this though
