  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Bit of help...

So now I have my new seats in the car, I want to get the heated part wired up.

The seats come with their own loom, which goes from the seats, to the switches and then to the power supply. The last owner, had these connected to the heated seat power wires under the seat, however I'm wondering... can I go straight to the fuse box?

My plan is, earth the seats under the seat, then run both live wires to the fuse box, join them together and connect to one of these so it's on it's own fuse?

Will this work? What size fuse should I use? I plan on getting both front seats together through one fuse...

It would work but it means your seats would be heated all the time... Is this what you want? I can't imagine heating them on days like today is very desirable. lol

Also, each seat will draw roughly 8A on heat up, so ensure any fuse you use is capable of double that, plus an overhead, also ensure any wire you use is rated for 8A+ at 12v.

You should really be running them through a relay though, and have the relay controlled via a switch.

Sorry Lee!! I've always been lazy with thread titles!

Dave, forgive my ignorance, surely if there's an inline switch then they wouldnt be live all the time?

As said above, you would be better using a relay for each seat and a switch for each relay. Doing it that way would avoid passing the seat heater load through the switch, as you would then only be switching the relay coil current.
The cable size from the fuse to the relay CONTACTS and from the relay CONTACTS to the seat heating element should be 28/ 0.30 ( 28 strands of 0.3 mm each strand.)

          Regards.

Not sure what you've done so far but wouldn't so easily give up as you never know could be a simple fix it's just getting there!

I don't really have the time for it mate, I'm doing 12hr days at work at the moment so the car is the last thing on my mind, I'm also so reluctant to spend any money on it as it hasn't cost me anything.

Just a car IMO, will get rid and get something else when I need a car. I get train at the moment for work so an un-needed expense
