If you change the head unit and keep to a Sony brand there will be no need to change the cables.
If you change to a different make of head unit you will have to change the cables. all cables are item specific.
Don't bother with Halfords. They sold me two sets of cables which were useless. Products by vehicle manufacturer - InCarTec of Exeter are the people for cables, I would use no other, may be a bit pricey but you get what you pay for.
