  • [Corsa D 2006-2014] Replacing dipped beam headlights

    Hi all,

I have seen lots of messages on various forms about how hard it is to change these bulbs, but I thought I would give it a go.
The bulb needed to be replaced is on the left hand side, so I have removed the fuse box lid and the top part of the windscreen washer thing.
I followed the manual's instructions and was trying to push something to the left to release the bulb, but I inadvertently pulled something out that I don't think I was meant to! You can see the thing I removed in the pictures below.

I also now have a problem in that my headlights can move up and down freely just with me moving them by hand - I assume this is because of what I have removed?
My issue now is that I can't put this back without seeing what I am doing as the fuse box is obstructing my view, and also there is not much room for me to use my hands to manoeuvre anything. So I am stuck.
Do I remove the fuse box so I can see what I am doing? Or take the bumper off so that I can get better access? And can anyone advise how big of a job these are?!
And also what are people's opinions on the driveability of the car in this state? There are some (shoddy) pictures below I took on my phone of what I can see if I stick the camera in there.

Thanks for your help in advance,
    A very frustrated Corsa owner!

What you've pulled out is the adjusted connected to the dial in the cabin. Never done it in a D, but they're a pain to get in on the older models.
I'd probably be looking to take the headlight out.

Thanks for your help. How big a job is taking the headlight out? Bearing in mind I haven't really done any work on cars before

I've no idea. Most modern cars are a right pain.
Will probably be the easiest way to get proper access to the back though.

When I had to change my bulbs on my D you had to remove the front bumper (fairly easy job) so you could then access all the bolts for the headlights. About 30 mins to do the whole task
