  • [Corsa C 2000-2006] Corsa C alarm nightmare

Need some help desperately! My 2000 corsa 1.4 has suddenly started to sound its alarm after being locked with the key fob, this seems to happen a few minutes after locking?
I've fitted a new battery, no difference! Now I've disconnected the power sounder, still no difference! Where do I look from here?

The power sounders have their own internal rechargeable battery, sealed inside it. Usually when this battery degrades and doesnt hold charge anymore it will sound randomly or when the car is turned off, as the voltage supply to it drops. Only way to fix is a new power sounder unit.

You can probably buy them second hand for cheap, but I am not 100% sure wether or not these are coded electronically to the alarm system/ECU. Someone else may be able to confirm that.

    Dave

Either way, if it was my car, outside my house, the power sounder would be off, and smashed into a million pieces via the use of a sledge hammer to shut the ****er up, lol.

Already done the latter Dave! LOL
But according to previous advice if the ignition key is in the ON position when disconecting it should react as an authorised adjustment and not need re-coding. But the power sounder is now out of the car and the alarm still goes off 😬

For the record, powers sounders are coded. Removal and extermination is the best bet with them.

Re. the alarm, first thing I'd do is to check for a current drain which indicates a short. Take the earth connector off the battery and put a multimeter between the -ve battery terminal and earth. Current flow should be a few mA at most. Anything more and there's a short somewhere. If so pull fuses until you find the circuit involved.
