  • [Corsa C 2000-2006] Starts but wont run

Hi new to the group and could really do with some help, have a Corsa c 1.2 04 reg was running like a dream then started been sluggish on night the next day it started but after a few seconds spluttered then died, sometimes it will run for a few seconds and throw out lots of smoke, so far changed fuel filter, plugs, throttle body and water temp sensor it also shows no error codes, it gives the impression it is over fueling, any advice would be gratefully received, I love the car and would like it back, cheers, Graham

Yep sounds like the crank sensor. Very common on the corsa.

Thanks for that will give it a try, would crank sensor make it seem like it is running out of fuel ie starts first time every time then starts to splutter and get slower and slower until it stops just like it would if it was running out of fuel.

OK story so far, car still starts first time every time then slowly dies, engine gets slower and slower until it stops, so far changed throttle body, cam sensor, temp sensor, checked compression all ok, checked fuel pressure again all ok, done the pedal test no codes showing, anyone know or had this before, cheers.

Hi sorry ment to say change crank sensor not cam would a dodgy cam sensor cause it to run like it's only firing on 2 pots

It could do but the cam sensor is only a secondary check really. Start the car up and disconnect the cam sensor and see if there's any change .

So it's misfiring could be plugs and coilpack

Had a lad to look at it tonight with his fancy test meter and he is convinced it is the coil pack, there has been an odd time it's thrown up a missfire error when I have been messing with it, could do with someone local to me with a coil pack to try.

If it is anything like due for a FULL service, you could do worse than treat it to a new set of plugs before you go down the coil pack rout.
                        Regards
