  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] 98 corsa 1.4 breeze - connectors behind dash

Hi all, I get the EML coming on sometimes. If I thump the clock (time) cover the EML usually goes off. Where, behind the dash, is the place to find most connectors in order to check them?
    TIA.

Theres a large black connector immediately behind the speedo cluster that controls everythign on the dials/cluster, including the EML. The actual clock, in the MFD, in the centre console, has nothing to do with that. It's not connected in any way to the EML.

Thanks for that, Dave. I've already had the cluster out and cleaned the contacts. Still the same. I wondered if there were connectors behind the centre part of the console. A diag showed a faulty egr and speedo sensor. I still think it's a wiring prob. At one point the EML came on, I biffed the clock cover, the EML went dim and the "not charging lamp" came on dim also, (dicky earth?). Another biff and back to just the EML. Biffs don't seem to do anything anymore

I posted about the Speedo connector but realised he said MFD clock and threw me off. Hopefully it's something of nothing but weird fix to hit dash lol.

Easiest way forward from here is probably to disconnect the wiring plug that goes into the mfd. it is is an earthing problem caused inside the mfd unit itself then this will isolate that

I'm here again with this damned corsa breeze 1.4
Forget the above probs (still pending). It's now the idle which is being a pain. It hunts around a bit between 750 and 1000. Often, when coming to a halt and dipping the clutch it will fly down to 500 then back to 750'ish. Paperclip gave me 0500 which I think is the icv. Changed icv, still the same. Any ideas guys?
              Cheers.

Did you clean the throttle body and check the port where the ICV connects?

Hi Taurus, I did, yes. It all looked good. It's becoming a bit of a prob, had it for 13 years, been great, no trouble, only done 65k. I really don't want to drop it but .......... y'know.
Re: the speedo fault, codes showed egr valve and speed sensor. Replaced both, still the same.

I said the idle was the same with the new icv, it isn't. Now, if i'm above ~2000rpm, when I change gear the revs increase by maybe 500rpm. If I dip the clutch and release the throttle together the revs stay high for a second or two. Just a thought - if the tapers are different on the new/old icv, would that have an effect on this?

Just an update - It appears that the valve profile is important. I expected the ecu to handle different valves but it appears not.

Top pic is the original, bottom is the replacement. I replaced again with a new valve as in top pic and all is well.
                      Thanks guys.
