  • [Corsa B 1993-2000] Jump starting a car without a battery installed.

Hi guys i recently bought a car with no engine etc, However because its a merit it didn't come with electric windows. I was wondering if i connected my engine loom to the car would i be able to run the cars electrics off another car? I have no battery installed car also has no ecu.

    cheers guys.

I'm a bit confused what you are trying to do. Jump starting is one thing, checking electrics by providing an external 12v power source is something else.

If it has no ecu or engine it won't jump start anyway.

In terms of checking electrical items running power off another car you can do it, but be careful, it's easy to knacker the alternator on the donor car if you create a short.

Personally I wouldn't do it. I'd either take the battery out of the donor car as a temporary measure, or go to a scrappies and buy a good battery for a tenner. I always keep a spare battery on the bench for such things.

What electrics are you trying to run?

^as above, don't understand what you're trying to do, or what the merit not having electric windows has to do with it.
Could understand if it did have electric windows and you wanted to close them, but don't know what you're trying to achieve.

Sorry for the vague post, i want to run the electrics to ensure that the electric windows that was installed work. Do i just need to connect the charging/starting loom in the engine bay or the whole loom?

        Cheers

I'd just connect the battery terminals to a battery or power pack. Simplest and safest way to do it.

Do i just need to connect the battery loom to the grey multi plug in the engine bay and the big brown earth wire to the bulk head?

              Cheers

The problem here is we don't know what's there and what isn't - the original post just said "no engine etc" - we can't see the car so we only know what you tell us. So I think you need to tell us exactly what is missing.

Hi, sorry lol, the whole engine is missing, ecu and the transponder is missing too, I've got a 1.6 complete engine loom from a corsa sport including the battery loom and fuel loom.
