  • Washing after a detail

    Hey,

I spent around 9 hours on my car on Saturday. Snow foamed, clayed, washed, polished, waxed and the interior got a good cleanup too.

What do most of you consist as an 'interim' wash so to speak? I was thinking just a snow foam, rinse and shampoo would be sufficient.

I don't bother these days, but when I washed it more often I'd usually do a snow foam, rinse, then quick detailer the whole thing.

Only started to use snow foam and read a too harsh a dillution can take the wax out.

      Cheers!

I've always used 1"-1.5" snowfoam mixed with 750ml water, give or take.
It all depends on what sort of lance you have.

it depends what snow foam you use, a ph neutral or a tfr, 2 completely different jobs

i used to snow foam and use my k3 every sunday, spend around 4 to 5 hours on the car, but seeing as ive broke the pump on the k3 and i know ive completely decontaminated the car, ill spend about an hour now, for a ph neutral SF, i dilute it 1/5 to boiled water (200ml)

what snow foam are you using?

Just a wash with decent shampoo and a qd wipe down afterwards is all I would be doing now, and only once a week to to reduce swirling

which snow foam are you using? if its a tfr-based SF then all your hard work of polishing and waxing will be pointless, however if its a ph neutral, youll be fine.

however saying that, you dont really need to snow foam every week so to speak, after youve waxed, to maintain it for a few weeks, simply use a wax containing shampoo like meguiars ultimate, then top up with a spray wax, again like megiuars ultimate or gold class.

snow foams are best for when you want to strip everything off the paintwork (polish/glaze, wax/sealant) and start a fresh.

EDIT: oops, sorry, just realised that ive already replied to this post, still half asleep!

No harm in adding useful info though. It's info I could use.

spending money on paint is sometimes like coating a turd in gold. it may be shiny and nice looking but underneath its still a turd.

id rather spend the money on engine parts.

That's because all of your cars are from the pre-war era.
