  • Why do...

...people spend 10 minutes driving round a car park to park as close to the shop as possible when they could park in any number of free parking places further away from the shops and saved 10 minutes of their lives?

Because I got a car to reduce my need to walk. Walking is dull, it's cold outside (and sometimes raining) and people are rude. In a car I'm warm, sitting down and in my own little cocoon of peace.

10 minutes is probably an exaggeration, mostly it's a few minutes.

Yeh I'd go along with that tbh.. If I can cut down my walking by 80% on any given parking attempt simply by driving round a car park for an extra 5 mins then I'll do it lol.

Also park in child and parent spaces, and sometimes disabled spaces too. Shoot me.

I don't park in parent and child even though I have one - but Dave is usually in there before me lol , I like to park out the way whereas I got space all around me and just have a casual stroll to the shop.

I park miles away. Don't even bother looking close. Drives the misses crazy.
I'd rather have a 30 second walk than come back to find some scrotes opened their door into mine though.

5-10 minutes isn't an exaggeration people were really waiting for people to come out do they could park close, it wasn't even raining.

But your post does sum up the mentality if a lot of people.

I usually park far away but since I drive a car I don't care about I just dump it near doors somewhere

What pisses me off the most is when I parked far away on my own with nothing around some bellend would still manage to park next to me :/

I usually try and park far away from where everyone else is parking.
Easier to get in / out of the space as no one else is nearby trying to get out at the same time and less likely someone will hit their doors off mines.

I go for end spaces, so there's half the risk.
