  • Changing phone tariff mid-contract

My current tariff on O2 is unlimited minutes and texts and 1gb of data. But I find myself buying more data most months as I use a lot when working away, but I probably only use about 150 minutes a month.
I know I can't drop to a cheaper contract, but will they let me swap minutes for more data?

I asked in an O2 shop and he said he didn't know ad I had to ring them.
The contracts in my dads name because I was under 18 when I started it, so I can't ring them till I'm with him.

As far as I know, they dont offer more then 1Gb on tarrifs, or at least they didnt a year ago when I got my iphone 5. You can buy data bolt ons for it to add more data that way, but of course they cost money.... lol.

I think it'd be down to the willingness of who you're speaking to as to wether they're willing to credit a bolt on to your tarriff for free in exchange for something. Ask diamonds.

That is lucky, lol. On O2 when you exceed your data limit you get pushed onto a slower speed service, they don't charge you any extra, but you effectively have like 5% speed.

I don't even notice and speed changes at all, I think if you use to much in peak times they do but I haven't experienced that as of yet

I'm not 100% sure Danny, but 99% sure you can't get more data unless you pay for it. They won't let you swap minutes or texts or both for anymore data though. The former don't put a lot of strain on the network but the latter does.
Staff contracts used to be unlimited data, but now when we take new contracts we're being restricted to 1GB as well.

Some companies advertise unlimited data but i don't know of any that genuinely do it.
