Switching Banks

I've recently begun considering switching banks, are the all pretty much the same these days?

I like HSBC (I am with them) but I have a bad financial history with them when I was younger and not convinced it'll ever really disappear from their records.

Are there any caveats when switching banks?

But yes, it's easy to swap. Have a look online for feature you like then start the process. I quite like Barclays iPhone app, other than that they are just a bank. I'll probdbly continue to use them until my invitation to Coutts comes through

It's going to be a while then...

I have - it's not great as it hasn't been a full 6 years yet, starts to clear off over next 2 years though.

have you spoken to your bank about where you stand? I had a chat with them at barclays and they explained to me exactly where i stood with them. It costs nothing and it puts your mind at ease.

I was with HSBC for years and never got anything from them. Recently I've switched everything over to Nationwide. Good interest rates and good service. The switch is made easy for you now. Most things are done within a week.
