Only good for you if you get a significant pay rise other wise your doing the work of 3 men at a 1/3 of cost

Cut two jobs, make one person do each job. Short term profits look good, ceo gets a big bonus, shareholders get a dividend...long term failure. Typically short sighted management.

I'm guessing it's a big company you work for?

Seems to be a common tactic for big companies now. Asda and O2 have done similar as well.

Asda aren't a bad company to work for tbh, I worked for them a few years ago and apart from odd problem they had lots of benefits

I know they paid off a lot of managers, kept a select few then trained up some regular members of staff for a new position they made up instead.
New position has most of the responsibilities of the old managers jobs but at a fraction of the wage.

Sounds about right lol as for my place, they got rid of a Lad who can do a few different jobs and kept on a lad who can only do the minimum lol and he's meant to be leaving at Christmas and hasn't been here as long as the the guy who is going, it's a strange carry on

The company I work for has done the same. All contract are now 30 hour flex up's. Cheaper in the long run because the holiday pay is based on the basic 30 hours, regardless of how many hours over they work.

Holidays provided should be based on hours worked, rather than hours contracted to.
Even people with 0 hours contracts get holiday pay and if they work the same amount of hours per year as a full time employee then by law they are entitled to the same holidays.
