Chinooks I see week in week out so they hardly interest me however the euro fighter is something else, the manoevability is amazing.
Still the sound if them Merlin engines makes the hairs on the back if my knack stan hp more than anything modern can.Originally posted by DaveOriginally posted by Stephen Fry[B]"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' A chap I knew was a navigator on Lancs during WW2. He was 19 at the time. One evening they wanted to have a party as one of the crew had his 21st birthday, they were hoping to be grounded but an op came up. If one of them was ill they stood a chance of not flying that night, and the guy I knew had raging earache so he went to the MO to see if there was any chance of being grounded. Unfortunately the MO said he had a perforated eardrum so he was off flying duty for a long period - rather than just that night.
His crew flew with a replacement navigation from another Lanc that had been shot up and was damaged. They never came back.
I remember him going to find their graves back in the 1980's - and standing at the grave of the navigator realizing that should have been his grave. That must have been hard to live with all these years.1972 Viva restoration thread - http://www.thecorsa.co.uk/projects-b....html#post1534

Thanks babe.
I agree about the modern jets, I iften watch them at leeming and their manoeuvrability is amazing however to compare them to Lancasters is unfair.
Also Taurus, I couldn't even imagine the feelings of guilt that man must have felt throughout his life.Originally posted by DaveOriginally posted by Stephen Fry[B]"It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.'
