I don't know what compressors to go for, but I currently use a wolfair 50 litre tank with a 2hp compressor,
what you mainly want to look at (mainly for spray painting) is the amount of CFM the tank puts out, my tank puts out 7.6cfm which is enough for the gun I use which is a little hvlp touch up gun.
Other then that the tank I use is totally fine for air tools, I regularly use the grinding tools etc and with air ratchet/guns.

Yeah, I manged two full coats on the front wing of my corolla before it lost any compression, compressor can be turned on at a specific psi too so I can run the compressor the whole time, will just be extremely loud and get pretty hot.
I could get more spray out of it if I used a LVLP gun, just not the same quality paint.

I'm looking at this compressor - Clarke Panther 10/240 2.5hp 24 Litre Air Compressor - Machine Mart
2.5hp 50Hz Motor - 230V
24 Litre Air Reciever Capacity
9.5cfm air displacement
8 bar (116psi) maximum pressure
Fully automatic on/off control - Fitted with safety valve and pressure regulator with gauge for controlled air pressure
Wheel Mounted
Dimensions (LWH): 568x320x607mm - Weight: 27.4kg
Its 2.5hp motor but every gun on Machine Mart says that I need a minimum of 3hp - is this essential?
