  • Cat deterrents

I'm having a real problem with a new cat in the neighbourhood ****ting all over my front garden. It's crapping at least two times a day on the grass and is killing it off. We also have the problem of flies buzzing around it all. I have two of these installed

and the only outcome I get from it is that the cats seem to enjoy ****ting in front of them, almost like a two fingers up to me.

I know where the owner of the cat lives, and I'll be popping around later to tell them they will be picking it up off my garden from now on. However this won't stop the cat doing it.
We've tried chicken wire, cat repellent sticks, clear plastic bottles with water in, citrus fruit peel, and the above alarms to no avail. Does anyone know of any other suggestions?
My next ideas are to lay some chicken wire flat across the grass and wire it into a battery, and one of the motion sensors butchered from one of them useless cat deterrents I have, so when the cat goes to take a ****, it triggers the power to the battery and gives it a belt, hopefully making it think twice. This is just an idea at the minute and I don't know what type of battery to use or how it would all actually work just yet, but I don't want it to be lethal as I like cats so input on this would be nice.
I could also possible hook up a motion sensored water jet to spray them with instead but again it's an idea I haven't really looked to far into so have no idea how to design it.

Any input is really appreciated as I'm at the point of kicking off at the cats owners and throwing the **** all over their garden.

Picked one and put it in my shopping basket online a few years ago but my missus stopped me. Since changed my mind on it and thought it's a bit evil.

If you go and ask / tell the neighbours to clean up the cat's mess and they refuse there's no legal obligation for them to clean it up.
Under law cats are considered free roaming creatures and don't fall under the same legal regulations as dogs.

I wouldn't give them electric shocks or do anything that hurts them. Not worth the risk of a criminal record and court appearance IMO.

Do you have a fence or wall surrounding your front garden? There's a few things you can attach to it if you do, that aren't illegal and should stop cats coming in.
If not, i'd consider building one.
Failing that, Super Soaker filled with water will make it less keen to come back and if the neighbours complain about a soggy cat coming into their home then you can request it'll not be a problem once they stop it pooping in your garden.

Catch it, and take it for a drive somewhere far away. Or turn sprinklers on when it's near. Cats hate water

If a neighbour asked me to pick car **** up off their law I would just laugh and close the door.

Something like this ( Jet Spray Repeller:Amazon.co.uk:Pet Supplies ) would be much more effective. They hate being soaked with water and it's a lot easier to catch one of them with one of these then it is with a super soaker.

Alternatively get your own cat, they are very Territorial.

To the person who suggested an air rifle, you're a **** and if that happened to one of my cats I would use the full force of the law to get your prosecuted as well as opening civil proceedings against you to reclaim the cost of vet expenses plus costs for my travel and time off following trips to the vets.

                        Land mines

But no seriously, iirc if you out down the scent of a bigger (alpha) cat then apparently all the other cats wu'll avoid your garden

Lions and tiger scent works best but you may have a job on your hands trying to get some lol

Either stand outside with a hose pipe or borrow a dog.

Other than that you are probably going to have to spend more

Agree with tim tbh, when I lived with my dad he had a big german shep and a neighbors cat kept coming in the garden and tormenting the dog, until dog snapped his chain and cat couldn't get away in time

No more cats went in garden after, but then you will have even bigger piles of **** to worry about lol
