Buy yourself a tile cutter, the type like a circular saw bed. They make tiling an absolute cinch. Just make sure you use decent quality grout as that can be the real ballache if the grout is hard to use.
If it's tiled all over I'd retile it all. You can buy cheapish tiles that look good. But the walls where the tiles have been will be a pain to prep for anything else unless you replaster them.1972 Viva restoration thread - http://www.thecorsa.co.uk/projects-b....html#post1534

Tiling around the bath is acceptable, same in my house, but with basic white tiles. I would put some tiles up from the back of the sink to the window sill, to act as some sort of splashback. Waterproof tile adhesive and grout is a must.
As long as the taps look nice, the rest of the suite can be any cheap thing. Fancy taps make the bathroom. They don't even have to be expensive.Originally posted by VegasWhen I hit boost me fuel runs out

Also any recommendation on a specific style of tap?

Also thanks Taurus for the tile cutter idea.

I'd buy some big plain white tiles in your situation, with the odd one to create a pattern/break
Up the bland white.
Selling your house, they're going to look that it's clean and functional as a second bathroom. That's the main thing here, you have to remnebr it's not for you.

I'm with Vegas on this. When I did our bathroom I used large square white tiles with a simple relief pattern on the front. Then I used small square coloured tiles a quarter of the size (ie arranged 4 of them to make a square the same size as the larger tiles) to randomly make a change of colour. It worked really well.
Go to a trade tile warehouse, they're mucho cheaper there than the DIY outlets or the bathroom designer places.1972 Viva restoration thread - http://www.thecorsa.co.uk/projects-b....html#post1534

Go on google images and look at different bathrooms. I did it for my kitchen to give me some ideas and just finished tiling that. I have a picture or two of it but not sure if it's relevant to this thread. Please contact me via PM if you would like to transfer your AllCorsa Gold Membership over to our VIP Membership.
