  • new phone time...

It's renewal time on the mobile phone front and I'm not sure what I want.
My current list of wants are:

For reference, I've been looking at the motorola moto G. I'm not in the market for a 'flagship' phone this time round.

It's usually used for social media, some video use and gaming, so not too intense.

Most smartphones will. The screen being on is the biggest battery drain.
If my S3 is used often with the screen on it get about half a day out of it.
Without the screen being on it gets about a day and a half, even when download / updating and stuff running in the backround

Moto G is the best value for money smartphone just now. Similar spec to an S3 but S3 is still slightly better.
Worlds apart from the Nexus 5. Nexus 5 is the best value flagship phone imo. Almost as fast and as many features as the new Samsung S5 but fraction of the cost.

Using my S4 moderately I get around 17 hours.

Thats Facebook, Netflix, internetting, calls and standby...

You must have an app or 2 still running causing drain

Seems to be between the nexus 5 and moto G at the moment. I've never liked Samsung Phones. There's nothing else out there appealing to me at the moment.

Not an issue with the phone, just an issue with the users expectations.

A bit like if you have a car with a really powerful engine. The more of the power you use, the more the battery runs down.
If you use all the power, all the time then it'll rapidly use all it's fuel

I'd take the Nexus 5 in that case then.

2 year contract? I don't know whether to just buy it outright or get a contract

Yeah 2 year contract. I had the previous Samsung galaxy nexus and really liked it, but this one blows it out the water.

If the Vodaphone deal is 4G, i'd deffo go with that one.

Have you checked 3? Unlimited 4G too. I've had no issues with them at all
