  • Car/Bike insurance excess?

Hey guys, Bit a newbie of this so thought I'd ask for a bit of help to understand.

My question is importantly, If I have a crash and I have compulsory excess to pay, but I can't afford it at the time, what happens??

Depends if you have fully comp. and are claiming on your own insurance - in which case you won't get very far. The repairer will keep your car until they are paid.

Or if it's a third party claim and it's against you, in which case you'll get a load of hassle and then potentially end up in court.

As far as i'm aware you only pay the access when making a claim on your own policy.
If you can't pay it, you can't make a claim on it for your own losses.
If you crash into someone and are at fault and they claim from your policy i'm in the understanding you don't pay the excess unless claiming for your own losses

I might be wrong in that case then, if it's compulsory excess

You would only need to pay to repair your own car, you're insurer would give you nothing.

Wtf. I had 350 for corsa value of 1300 to me. May as well go TPFT right? Do you pay out if you damage someone else's car?

When they have to pay out do they go on the valuation of your car that you put down when taking the insurance or what they value the car at?
