Contour plus 2 vs Gopro hero 3 black

I've never heard of the other one before but i've been drooling over the HD Hero 3 for a while.
I've got a HD Hero 2 and it's pretty good. Very sturdy and durable. Looks crap when you first open it all, but the videos speak for their self. Always silky smooth frame rates and very sharp picture quality regardless of how much shocks or impacts it takes.
The lack of features on the Here 2 was annoying a little and the price for accessories as well. I wouldn't be surprised if you got just as good ones for less money to be honest. I think they depend on their name and the people that use Go Pro too much with pricing.

I used the HD Here 2 on the car up to 80mph with no problems on the sides and roof and even inside on the sunroof.
same with the bicycle. Some downhill cycling at approx 30mph on very rough terrain and not any issues at all

That's good to know i'm never sure how the videos come out as some on youtube seem really good and some not so good. How goods the sound quality? As you say GoPro has the name behind them, Contour is worth a look too if you want to upgrade they both have neat features and positives and negatives over each other.

I found my GoPro videos were much better on my PC than any i had uploaded to Youtube. GoPro can record on 60fps @ 1080p if the Black Edition so it's really silky smooth and Youtube loses that. Mines does it as well at 720p.

Sound is great outside the waterproof casing but it's award to hold and impossible to mount that way. I got 2 cases for it. One with holes in the back for regular stuff and one that's sealed for water / wet stuff. Thewaterproof one is very muffled i found but otherwise it's decent.

I always wondered about that, as for the sound that's always promising, doubt I'll be using it underwater much to be honest.

Think I'll keep checking reviews for some time as I'm still torn between the two but more 60% contour and 40% gopro.

I was at work earlier, but just looked on up the Contour there and i would say i think you'd enjoy the GoPro more.
Go Pro records beyond 1080p but the Contour doesn't
Go Pro has double the frame rates at any given resolution than the Contour so better for slow motion stuff and looks much smoother normal speed.

The Contour sound might be slightly better and same with night time recording but the differences are minimal.
When it comes to the video quality the GoPro is much higher spec than the Contour.
Only problem is prices with GoPro accessories, but i've got a few parts from Chinese Ebay that are cheaper.

Hero 3+ all the way.

I've got a Hero 2 and that's brilliant. I'll be waiting for the Hero 4 as i've already got one but if you want one now the Hero 3+ is the one to get, go for the black edition if you can afford it. Unless you don't need 4k at 15fps

I wasn't sure if the recording quality would be that different as the review video seems quite close apart from the gopro has far better contrasting capabilities.

Are the Chinese equivalent accessories good quality? Did you go for a cheaper mount?

The difference would be quite a bit imo in terms of how smooth videos run and how good slow motion effects would be.

I got a chinese chest mount that arrived but it was no use because one of the straps were missing. Full refund no problem and not asked to send back.
Got the GoPro to regular camera adpator and that's perfect. No issues at all.
Got the bicycle handlebar mount as well. No idea if anyone has issues with the original GoPro item, but the Chinese one i got kept slipping on really harsh off road until we tightened it up to the max. Then it was fine

The hero 3 would be more than sufficient for me, probably look to get one of the 2 end of next month. Found it for a good price on Amazon:

I remember parts of your Paul walker video were done on your gopro which came out nicely. Haha thats not too bad then I saw the official mounts have been tested upto 200mph+ without failure.

Yeah was a bit shaky in the video but was in a drift car and it was hand held haha
