I've got a nexus 7 which is great, maybe a little overkill but it's great for what I want. Would do everything you want except the SD card. However it is made by Asus as well so on that basis I could recommend the one you are looking at.

It's very similar spec to the first generation Asus Nexus 7.
That seems quite a good tablet for the price. It's very similar spec to the one i have just now, and it's not slow or restrictive in any means.
I know that's not what you're after in terms of powerformance or extra features but it's still nice to have for other things later if you need it.

I quite like Asus products as well. They give good quality products for a reasonable price.
I've been using their PC parts along with some friends for years and not ran into a problem yet.

What your looking at seems a decent tablet. Will do what you want. Price is fair. Decent enough all rounder.

I usually just look for highest spec per pound on a budget.

Thanks chaps. I did look at the Hudl as well - it's pretty close, but for the extra tenner I think I'll got for the Asus.

I don't have any clubcard points as we're saving them for vouchers for our holidays later in the year. Otherwise that would probably have tipped it in favour of the Hudl.

I bought the Asus Memo HD 7 - very impressed with it. It runs all my Microsoft files no problem. Much lighter than lugging a netbook around to access information.

The browser accesses this site fine - but it wants me to install Tapatalk. Do I need to? I thought that was mainly for phones. I am used to the layout as see on a pc screen and the tablet shows it the same way. If Tapatalk changes that I'd rather not install it.

You don't have to, I prefer it to using a browser though. You do lose the way the site is set out but it's easier on the small screen.

You could try it and see how you feel - it's free and the browser option is always there

Tapatalk strips all styling and layout as you currently see it, and drops the threads and posts into a pre-defined layout within the app. It does this for every forum out there using tapatalk. So if you use more than one forum it really speeds things up as it's all uniform and in the same place etc... If you like the styling in browser and only really use one forum at a time then tapatalk probably won't be for you.

Thanks - I'll stick with my usual browser then. I use this forum, the Viva club and the Astra Club, occasionally RetroRides, I'm used to their layouts so I don't want everything changed.

I use the normal browser on my phone too. It's the same as on pc, only smaller.

Losing layout doesn't confuse it really simplifies. Try it for free you never know. Apparently hudl isn't great and uses really old version of android.
