Hey guys, I’ve been lurking on here for a couple of months following Small9918’s fiesta project and watching the great response its had, and also been having a look at some of the other projects on here. After my first post Small sussed who I was and told me to me to start a thread on mine asap so here is a little background.
I’ve owned my Mk1 Escort since March 2006, its current undergoing a full restoration and rebuild but it has been painfully slow due to money, time and now-ex-girlfriends but pace has been picking up over the last year or so.
To keep the spec list short and sweet the finished car will be Mk1 escort 4 door ‘1100L’ but with all the goodies underneath and inside, race/rally suspension, Hispec brakes front and rear, plated LSD, straight cut box, caged, bucket seats, harnesses, plumbed in fire extinguisher, rally fuel tank. I could go on!
But it is the engine where this car comes into play! To begin with I will have this:
Chassis mounted Toyota 4AGE Blacktop 20V – 1600cc with 165bhp, 8600rpm limiter and 45mm ITB’s as standard
Running on Omex 600 ECU
However this engine is only temporary until the proper one is built over the next couple of years, I’m not willing to share specs just yet though but it will be a 20V 4AGE, the target is 250bhp and a rev limit of around 10,000 rpm
And no this isn’t just pub talk! The bar has just been set at 251bhp in America and I am hoping to achieve the same with a very similar spec. I’m currently collecting parts from all over the world so when I have all my bottom end components together I shall share abit more as to the spec
Anyway onto some photos!
Here are the pictures from the original advert, the car was stored in a Honda garage in Chester for 2 years before I got hold of her.

And a few better ones from when it was collected:

The car stayed like this for the next 4 years or so for reasons stated above, a little bit of work here and there but it flew through its MOT's with advisories on brakes and windscreen washers every single year. Funny because brakes are drums all round with no servo assistance, and a foot operated washer pump, so of course they would never be up to modern standards
Then I bit the bullet and started doing some proper work on the car....
I'm breaking this down into a few posts so bear with me
