  • [Traitor Car] Mitsubishi Evolution 1 GSR

Seen this sat down a mates yard for quite a few years now and always loved it. After some talking i now own her .

She's a 92' Jap import Evo 1 GSR and a genuine one at that, 134,000km on the clock so around 80k which isn't too bad for the age. Plan is to bring it to her former glory after sitting still for 5 years as its suffered from the common roof rot which was made worse by an awful patch up job, rattle canned bonnet and a few dents caused by the digger in the yard -_-.

Engines standard but still runs after all this time
Evo 3 interior in good condition just needs a deep clean.

    2014 summer Plans:
New roof (probably from a proton wira)
    Full respray
    Turbo back 3" stainless sytem
    Service including all oils/fluids
    Cambelt/balancer belt

Going to be a very long term project due to funds but couldn't miss out on her as i've always wanted an evo. Going into dry storage till next summer then the main work can begin.

    From new Specs:
    0-60 - 5 Seconds
    Top speed - 143mph
    mpg - 20mpg if lucky

Bit better then the corsa haha!

Nice one, I can see the potential. How has the interior held up with the roof beign so bad? I'm going to asusme that the roof was mid-repair when someone lost interest? Thats a real shame tbh. A lot of bodywork, is it solid underneath?

Will be lots of fun for sure.

Well it doesn't seem that the roof leaks into the interior much even with the holes no water marks but the interior has a damp smell to it with a slight mold patch on one of the seats.

Yeah he did more of a cut and shut to track the car but like you say lost interest and never saw a track lol. Had a quick look and only slight surface patches underneath! Boot floor only has surface too.

Agreed with fun! Will take some time but worth the wait .

Cheers mate! I'm definitely going to take my time with this for a quality finish as I've always wanted one.

(Not going to forget about the corsa now though, main concentration is still going on her)

Glad you're going to restore this, there was only 5000 Evo Is produced so if you get this back into perfect condition it will likely be worth money in the future.

Also that running cost calculator sounds accurate

Look like its going to be a interesting project.
I would love the chance to buy one of these. I was offered one whilst in college but couldn't afford the insurance otherwise I would have taken it.

Will be keeping an eye on this thread. Best of luck mate

Lovely! Just drove past one of these with a cadburys purple paintjob! Is it just restore and drive, or mod the balls off it?

I think due to cost, get it running, the bodywork mint and needs a new exhaust so looking at a 3" turbo back is priority and then enjoy it. I don't think I'll go OTT but if I keep it for some then I'll look into big power

Thought about cadburys purple funnily enough! The current colour won't be bad after a clean, kind of a blue/green/purple pealescent.

love it, these will be worth money soon, due to the rarity. id get all the interior out asap. check for rust everywhere, with that roof.

As do I! Over the moon I got it, in a few days it will get trailered to dry storage then Liam and I will totally strip interior, see what damage is where, start cleaning carpet and seats etc and will get some pictures up .

Brakes hardly work at the moment, calipers are slightly seized. Any tips to unseize them?
